Building your beautiful future.

Who the heck was it that decided our lives diminish or grow quiet and less meaningful as we grow older?

Life experience and maturity that comes of it is a gift, and this chapter of our lives should be our best. We’ve done the hard work already, and as a result we’ve earned the right to the start of a beautiful new future.

And here’s the thing — you get to build that beautiful future. And, what’s more, you can start now.

So, what do I mean by “build your
beautiful future?”

It’s a phrase I’ve been using almost as an affirmation. “I am building my beautiful future,” I keep telling myself as I inch toward living a life that calls to me with a voice that gets louder with each passing year. It started with a yearning; a sense that I hadn’t entirely lived the life I was meant to live, and that there was more I was supposed to do. It’s become a daily affirmation — even a mantra — for me, and I get a thrill each time I write it or even think it. My beautiful future is one where I become the creative artist I’ve always longed to be.

My dream has been to be that renaissance woman who just explores and creates in as many ways as possible. When I see myself as that person, I am usually standing at my easel with paintbrush in hand, or at a gallery showing my art. But I also want to devote more time to music, to acting, to just being so much more fully alive. For fun and for more that just fun. To express how grateful I am to have these passions and gifts.

And, now comes the big question: where
do you start?

I find meditation and contemplation are a great place to start. Ask yourself before you do, what have I always wanted my life to be like, look like, feel like? Ask yourself the same question as a daily practice and before you go to sleep at night. I also think exploration is key. Try researching, journaling, mind mapping, creating a vision board, and just day dreaming. Start with defining your passions and making that the core of it all. Be aware of what excites you, moves you, or puts you in the zone. (See my blog post as;ldkfjasl;dfkjasl;dfkjdslkj!)

The rules are simple.

Make it your vision of beautiful. Don’t compromise. Don’t give in. Don’t put it on pause.
